I am not a writer but Steves book is so simple to follow. I have it so easy to organize my thoughts using his worksheets that I am actually enjoying writing. My daughter loves to write short stories and she has referred back to his book as well.
I have known Steve Austin for nearly twenty years and if anyone has a story to tell it is him! His message has changed my life in more ways than I can count. You definitely want to read everything he writes. The Writer's Toolkit will give you everything you need to be able to clearly and creatively tell your story. Also, his set of downloadable worksheets on how to tell your story has inspired me to get to writing! I have a story to tell and can’t wait to use Steve’s “tell your story” formula to craft my message of awesome! Look out world! )
I didn't buy the book. I paid for and took the online course and it is the course I'm reviewing (since the book goes with the course ...). It was awesome. No long drawn out droning on for hours. Each module was short, sweet and directly to the point. Each module included prompts for practicing the "tools" presented within that module. This is the kind of course I need as I usually end up watching things like this at work (where it's far more quiet than home). I loved it and I can't wait to put it to use in writing for my blog and writing messages for church.
I have just completed a novel, and had begun work on my second book. That was all the way up until I read this down to earth descriptive way to increase interaction and draw readers into the story. I knew what I had what would be a good story - but this simple and short, but incredibly profound little book has opened my eyes, and will allow my voice to not only tell a great story - but will enable me to hold a megaphone, and amplify that voice. I have increased confidence that the stories I tell will touch and impact a larger audience because the world in hungry for authenticity matched with vulnerability. This book - though too short in my opinion - was a solid read, and very easy to understand and work though. Though I am not happy that Steve has been through hell on earth, my heart is grateful that he's alive to impact The World with said story. He's a compelling writer, and this powerful tool will enable others - common people like you and me - to tell our stories with confidence. Thank you, Steve!
Steve has put together a fantastic resource to help would-be writers, preachers, speakers, and newbie bloggers learn how to tell our stories in a way that genuinely connects with people. This is more than just an ebook. It's like sitting down with Steve over a cup of coffee and hashing out your story together! Not only did he inspire me to brave and authentic, but he also gave me practical tools (and worksheets!) that walked me through the process. I'm a experienced writer and public speaker, but I still found this toolkit but to VERY helpful in making the stories on my blog come to life for my readers. (After I started following Steve's tips about using concrete details, I saw an increase in reader engagement!) Steve has a true talent for developing great storytellers, so if you've got a story that needs to be told OR just want to improve your writing skills, I highly encourage you to snag a copy!
I generally don't like to buy these short books, but I stumbled on Steve Austin's work one day and was HOOKED. The worksheets were a great way to work through my ideas, what I want to say, and how I want to say it. I will go back to this over and over, because this kind of writing is just the kind I want to read and write. The only problem I have is that it's too short. I love the way he makes his points.
